Mission
After recognizing the need for a Church of Christ in downtown Charleston, SC, The Rutledge Ave Church of Christ branched from the Azalea Drive Church of Christ in 1995 with only 4 members. Jesus said in Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them." With that scripture in mind, a lot of prayer, and the grace/favor of the Lord, Rutledge Ave. was able to blossom into a full congregation by the late 1990's. In 2001, we were able to obtain a new building in place of the old "cookie store" that used to serve as our place of worship. God has, and continues to bless us as we "press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" - Philippians 3:14.
Today it is our mission and purpose to still preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, care for the needy, and edify the body of Christ.
